Fleet Foxes are undeniably one of everyone's standout bands of 2008 - number one's everywhere, sold out shows, 500 word beauty rants on every music blogger's blog blach blah blah. So they're good. And they want to prove to you that it wasn't a one- album wonder (it wasn't).
Our lovely friends at Rhythmethod have given us a copy of their super limited 2CD set, featuring their self titled debut alongside the Sun Giant EP, to give away. And, they're throwing in Beiruit's new March of the Zapotec.

Okay reasons:
1) I love Fleet Foxes
2) I didn't get to see them when they were here
3) I love Beirut
4) I DID get to see him once but it was before his new album and he was awesome so that makes me want his new album even more
5)...but....I GOT MADE REDUNDANT (take pity) and can't afford to buy it from a shop.

2 - I know sign language.
3 - I'm from Christchurch and I'm still going to therapy because of it.
4 - I can't cart wheel and need something to fill the space in my heart where that part is supposed to be.

Ok so its hard for a poet to follow a 'rapper', but here I go:
1 - I know how to count to 5
2 - I'm learning the Ukulele because of The Penalty
3 - The only other competition I have ever won was for a years supply of bluebird chips but I never got them :(
4 - I could beat you in an arm wrestle (I wasted my little brother in one the other night and he's real strong for a 16 year old)
5 - I learnt to Cartwheel on saturday night, fell on my head twice but managed to do it - this did actually happen (5b I'm dedicated) (5c my middle name is Zapotec) (5d I had a bowl cut when I left high school) (5e who doesn't love fleet foxes) (5f what is a cynos?)

Reason #1: The lush, 4-part harmonies of the Fleet Foxes will ease the pain of my cold morning walk to work, and imbue me with a sense of optimistic nostalgia to carry me through-out my corporate, computer shaped 9 to 5 slog.
Reason #2: I was unable to get a ticket to their show at the Bath House earlier this year, but went along a stood outside on the street to listen to their set - amazing!
Reason #3: Recession times + Free music x Fluro Mag = Happy winter days!
Reason #4: Beirut have one of the coolest, most unique styles I've heard of in a long time, and wish I could be part of his crazy orchestra. I would love nothing more than to sit at home in my room surrounded by pots, pans, and lids, and bang my heart away with a pair of chop-sticks... just like I did when I was 5. Would could be better for the soul than reliving our idealistic child-hood days in these times of doubt, fear, and poor-ity.
Reason #5: I'm currently not doing the work that I should be while listening to terrible office music in the faint hope that the trouble I will get into for not doing work will be superseded by the sweet music prize that I may win from the most generous, awesome, interesting, and unique free magazine in town... that's you Fluro!
