Rodarte, I think I love you...
I've always been a fan of Rodarte. Ever since I found out that Laura and Kate Mulleavy sold their extensive record collections to pay for their first collection, and based one of their collections on Japanese horror films and dyed and dyed and dyed fabric again and again and again to get the perfect death colour, and hired Autumn de Wilde as their official photographer (and when taking into consideration her succinctly modern views on woman in fashion and models in fashion is an absolutely beautiful decision) and just pretty much ruled the roost of intelligent thought provoking fashion for the women outside of those who only want their seasonal handbag and matching shoes, I was (at least metaphorically) sold.
Autumn Winter 09/10 - which of course hits us sunny side up - is absolutely no different. With a show staged in an airy, glass-house like geometric premise, the sister's sent organically-coloured-clad models down the runway in an obvious ode to environmental concerns of sorts. Splashes of sequinned electric blue and putrid lime green with silver placed one studded foot firmly in glass domed territory.
No (online) word yet on the sisters inspiration for this collection, I'm thinking (and my current obsession with '80's films would lead me to believe) that it's potentially a nod to flicks like Weird Science and Back to the Future.

Thanks Hadlee, it's nice to know someone actually reads them. AND, i know you secretly harbour copies of all the NW and Womens Weekly magazines Pete has featured in...
