The new YYY's full length LP is being released early; online March 10 in the US and March 9 everywhere else and physically late March (US) and early April (internationally), because of a god damned leak.
I'm pretty stoked that it's been pushed for and have been mega looking forward to a full length release from these guys for ages and considering I've listened to the single from the album and don't know how to really place it (it's a bit electronica, it's disco, there's no guitars?!) and neither do heaps of people so the release of the album and the following banter and constructive arguments surrounding it (Nick at EMJ I'm talking to you hehe) are going to be super interesting...BUT.
The question remains...WHO leaks things? Who within the circle of band/producers/record label has their best interests tied up with leaked material? Obviously it's more complicated than that; radio stations getting hold of copies for single purposes, press getting copies for review/interview/advertising purposes. Anyway, it's super interesting that today, the question isn't whether an album will appear online before its release, but when. Spin magazine's online content is super, and they've got an article online pertaining to exactly this HERE.
