i know this may sound like a cheap tactic to make news relevant..

But no kidding, my mothers house burnt down.
It's OK. We'd actually just moved, but it means she's dealing with a whole lot of embers and scattered photos.
Now I don't mean to sound crude, but the whole saga got me kind of excited.
Of course this is a horrible, horrible thing to have happened, but for the first time in my life I've come face to face with 'tragedy.'

Earlier this year the Australian fires dominated our hearts and minds and having my own house burnt down, i couldn't help but wonder...

What has happened to those who have suffered in the land of the dingo? ( land of the dingo???? )

Until now the immediacy of the fires had ceased....for me anyway.
Like any catastrophic event why would I continue thinking about pain and displacement when it's much more pleasant to turn a blind eye and concentrate on my drinkin in the weekend. Right?

So i did a little googling...and rest assured... the worst of the season has been declared over.

Better yet, the government announced it would provide temporary accommodation for those left homeless for up to 18 months... and provide the first three months accommodation rent-free.

The relocation won't be pretty, and it certainly won't be easy, but it's good to see the government helping out those who need a hand..

Fingers crossed the worst is really over!!!
