i?

I thought the image below was a pretty telling critique of the iPhone (the number one selling smart-phone in the US for the last two quarters of '08, and a popular phone here in NZ). It asks, 'why the expense, when it doesn't do what some of its competitors do?'.

I am a an avid (read: religious) Mac user, and don't usually mind paying a little extra to know that my technology has an i in front of it, but I think these particular Items of Envy are a little overpriced/overhyped. iPhones are currently retailing for around a grand (depending on size) if you want to get it without the plan, or a small initial cost ($$100 - $650) plus between $40 or $250 per Month on a 2 year contract (imagine being locked into $250 per month for 2 years, holy hell, that's a small deposit on a house). While this technology would be amazing to own, I think it'll be a while before I jump on this particular iBandwagon. I'll stick with my iPod Touch for now, thank you very much (when I get one).
